The popular stage play tagged ‘Osamede’, which wowed audiences last year, is scheduled to return to the stage this year bigger and even better, starting from Tuesday, 27th December, to Thursday, 29thDecember, 2022, at the Agip Hall Muson Centre Lagos, between the hours of 4pm and 7pm respectively.

Osamede, meaning “Crowned by God” is a blend of archaism and novelty which passes salient messages subtly, to the modern audience via deep exposure to the deep cultural heritage of the ancient Benin kingdom. This intriguing and compelling stage drama is set against a background of customs from pre-colonial era combined with modern creativity and developments. 

It is a masterpiece that explores the dialogue surrounding societal morals, values and issues, while igniting the bold spirit against the status quo. The play is a proclamation and a call to action on synergizing, whilst playing our part on nation-building.

The cast behind this great stage play is an assemblage of veterans and new actors in Nollywood. It features the likes of Rachel Ogonodi, Olanrewaju Dele Abrahams, Patrick Diabuah, Soibifaa Dokubo, Otunba Tunji Sotimiri and other talented actors that will take the audience on a renaissance adventure this yuletide season.

Executive Producer, Lilian Olubi affirmed that in its second season, ‘Osamede’ promises to be a potpourri of enlightenment, soul searching, and immense entertainment as it takes the audience on a journey of one resolute woman defying stacked odds to bring transformation to her community.

In her words, “The stage play is undoubtedly rich in history, costume, culture and tradition, so I consider it appropriate to showcase and promote this wealth of culture, which I firmly believe will appeal to both local and international audiences.”

“I have always had a healthy appreciation for the excellence and beauty of the storied Benin kingdom,” Olubi added.

The re-run of the enchanting live drama, music, and cultural grandeur of this theatrical masterpiece will be bigger and better.
