In his welcome address, the awards Committee chairman, Okechukwu Uche-Ukah explained that Rotarians are problem solvers who come together to make positive and lasting change in various communities around the world. “Rotary through it members (Rotarians) have used their passion, energy and intelligence to take actions on sustainable projects including promoting peace and resolving conflicts, fighting diseases, providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene; saving mothers and children; promoting education and literacy, and supporting community development and economic empowerment, especially for women”, he said.
