Vlisco Celebrates African Women To Mark 170th Anniversary - marketingspace.com.ngVlisco, manufacturers of premium Dutch wax fabrics has lined up activities to celebrate African women for their loyalty to the brand during its forthcoming 170th anniversary celebration fashion show which is to place in October this year.

The celebration, which comes up in Lagos and Abuja will honour African Women who have played an indispensable role over the years in the life of the brand as its turned 170 years old on August 15, 2016.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, the Marketing Manager, Vlisco Nigeria, Mrs. Adaeze Alilonu said, ‘’Vlisco is to pay tribute to all African women who have always cherished and adored its fabrics. Vlisco is to honour their passion for authentic Wax Hollandais and feels privileged to be a part of their rich culture.’’

‘’The brand officially turned 170 years old on 15 August 2016 and because of its strong connection with Africa, the brand will mark the big event by honouring African women, as they have played an indispensable role in their success.

‘’Throughout the rest of the year, Vlisco will host activities to inspire, interact and engage with their customers to show appreciation for always being with the brand’’, she said.

As part of the celebration, Vlisco has asked 8 women from 6 different countries in Central and West Africa to be the faces of the 170 Years campaign which include the world famous, Grammy winning African singer Angelique Kidjo.

Others are: Hajia Zainab Bako Oriola (an Abuja-based businesswoman), Mrs. Celestina Obasi (a Vlisco distributor based in Onitsha) and Ejiro Amos-Tafiri (a Lagos-based fashion designer).
