Noah’s Ark Communications Limited, a prominent creative agency in Nigeria, has partnered with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) to enhance public awareness about effective waste disposal and recycling, coinciding with the company’s 17th anniversary celebrations.
Following a spirited 5km walkathon in Lagos titled “Recycling in a Plastic World: An Eco Walk,” Lanre Adisa, CEO of Noah’s Ark Communications, emphasized that this collaboration aims to educate the community on the vital importance and benefits of recycling.
Adisa described the walk as a significant step towards fostering a healthier community. He expressed gratitude for the support received from LAWMA, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and the Nigerian Police Force, and underscored Noah’s Ark’s commitment to continuing its partnership with LAWMA to spread the message of waste management and recycling.
“There’s so much potential for change. Many people expect the government to tackle everything, but we all share the responsibility. If you litter, you cannot solely blame the government. When floods arise, those consequences will affect you directly. Together, we can make a meaningful difference,” he remarked.
Ruqayah Kehinde, Regional Manager of Recycling Waste at LAWMA, highlighted the agency’s dedication to promoting proper waste disposal and recycling through various programs and initiatives.
Kehinde shared that LAWMA has introduced youth-oriented initiatives aimed at fostering a sense of environmental responsibility and recycling culture among young people. “Our Summer School Program educates children aged 7 to 16 on waste management and responsible waste handling. We visit schools to raise awareness about proper disposal and recycling practices. Additionally, the LAWMA Advocacy Team actively engages with communities across the state,” she explained.
She also pointed out that Lagos and Ogun States host bottle recycling facilities that transform plastic waste into new, reusable products, encouraging walkathon participants to view themselves as catalysts for environmental change and advocates for a healthier community.
