The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has re-elected Dr. Rotimi Oladele as the President and Chairman Governing Council to run the affairs of the institute for the next two years.
Also re-elected is the Vice President, Alhaji Muktar Sirajo and 12 old Council Members and three new members which include Mrs. Yetunde Alagbe from Oyo State, who Chaired the Joint Organising Committee that organized the three-day conference.
The event which held at the Banquet Hall of Premier Hotel, Ibadan from Wednesday 13th to Friday 15th April 2016 also witnessed the conferment of professional fellowship of NIPR on five of its dedicated Members.
The Conference in session with the Theme “Networking for National Economy, the Synergy of Agriculture and Communication” observed that there was a disconnect between Research and Development in Agriculture and key players in the Agricultural sector on the one hand, and between Government Policies and the needs of the peasant farmers on the other hand.
Public Relations and Communications Professionals were therefore tasked to have a crucial role in reconnecting all these diverse stakeholders.
The Forum further implored Government to imbibe marketing communication policies in the agricultural sector and to create opportunities for strategic engagements by critical stakeholders like the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in enriching and bridging policy and skills gaps.
